With back to back releases in next coming months, including the first Iceland-centric Indian flick Hanuman.Com about how the web has bridged people and places, superstar Prosenjit today offered prayers to Kolkata's presiding deity at Kalighat Kali temple.
The 'Anthony Firingee' in a period film, who had earlier visited a centuries old Kalibari set up by the 19th century Portugese-Bengali balladeer of equality and anti-child marriage said this time he was praying for Hanuman.Com.
"I play Anjani Putra, a teacher leading a humdrum life in a mofussil Bengal town in Hanuman.Com and the influence on him of the digital world and how he faces the situation in faraway Iceland. It is a situation of two different parts of the world merging both physically and metaphorically," Prosenjit, who admittedly finds the goings in Tollywood more and more uplifting, said.
Asked what he prayed to the Goddess, Prosenjit said "For the success of the film. And to keep the success graph of Bengali cinema going up and up."
Prosenjit, who was inaugurating the idol of Naba Jubak Sangha Puja, one of the Heritage pujas in the country, said he was possessed with divine feelings looking at the idol.
"In my childhood days I used to accompany father Biswajit Chatterjee to the Naba Jubak Sangha pandal, popularly known as 'Fata kesto' pujo" (named after a popular, do-gooder para activist).
'Hanuman.Com', first Bengali movie extensively shot in the icy terrain of Iceland, starring actor Prosenjit Chatterjee will have its international release at the Cannes.
"This film boasts of a mixed global cast, actors and crew from Berlin besides that of Bengal.
