The Puducherry Assembly was today adjourned sine die after transacting its scheduled business, including passing of the Appropriation (Vote on Account) Bill earmarking funds for the first three months of fiscal 2015-16.
The House passed by voice vote the Appropriation (Vote on Account) Bill for fiscal 2015-2016, tabled by Chief Minister N Rangasamy, earmarking a sum of Rs 1483.33 crore out of the Consolidated Fund of the Union Territory of Puducherry for the expenditure for April, May and June of fiscal 2015-2016.
Earlier, opposition AIADMK legislator A Anbalagan protested against the government's 'constant practice' of presenting only vote on account and not a full fledged budget, saying this was hitting development of the Union Territory.
Another AIADMK legislator P Purushothaman also took strong exception to government going in for interim allocation of funds without presenting the full fledged budget.
Chief Minister N Rangasamy informed the members that presentation of Appropriation Bill whenever the Centre has not finalised the size of the plan allocation for Union Territory was nothing new.
"This has happened in the past and very soon we will present a full fledged budget," he said.
Speaker V Sabapathy adjourned the Assembly sine die after the House transacted business in its 35-minute session.
