Rajvardhan Tiwari, posted as Assistant Engineer, PWD, at Roorkee in Haridwar was arrested from his office yesterday while taking a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a contractor, Vigilance SP Roshan Lal Sharma said today.
Tiwari had demanded a bribe of Rs 80,000 from the contractor for awarding a a road construction contract worth Rs 40 lakh, he said.
Based on the complaint of the contractor, the Vigilance department sleuths hatched a plan and caught the engineer red-handed while taking the bribe, Sharma said.
