Superstar Shah Rukh Khan's "Raees" and Hrithik Roshan-starrer "Kaabil" have continued to draw sizeable audience to the theatres since its release last Wednesday with both the films setting the box office cash registers ringing.
"Raees" and "Kaabil" were touted as one the biggest box office battles of 2017, but the makers are relieved that both the films are doing well commercially.
"Till now both films are doing well. 'Raees' has earned approximately Rs 90-92 crore while 'Kaabil' did business of Rs 69-70 crore. As the weekend is over, today onwards content will speak more," distributor Akshay Rathi told PTI.
"Considering 'Raees' has more screens, the film has gained both in single screen theatres and multiplexes. 'Kaabil' is giving a tough fight as the word of mouth for the film is positive," he said.
Reportedly Raees" has opened in 3200 screens while "Kaabil" opened in 2200 screens.
""Raees" still has more screen space as compared to "Kaabil". The SRK-starrer has earned Rs 90-92 crore whereas Hrithik's film has garnered Rs 69 crore approximately," distributor Rajesh Thadani said.
The Rahul Dholakia directed film mopped up Rs 20 crore on its opening day while Sanjay Gupta's release had earned Rs 10.43 crore at the box office.
As per makers of "Raees" the film has earned Rs 93.24 crore so far while "Kaabil" has done a business of Rs 67.46 crore.
According to Box Office India, a premier trade magazine, Raees has approximately done a business of Rs 92 crore while "Kaabil" stands at Rs 54 crore so far.
Both the movies released on January 25.
