Shambhu, a resident of Allahabad, was spotted carrying a bag in a suspicious manner by RPF constable Atar Singh near the gate on platform number 1 around 12.30 pm, he said.
When the constable confronted him, Shambhu got nervous. Later, sub-inspector Ram Naresh reached there and Shambhu was brought to the RPF post.
"During a search of the bag, a packet concealed behind mobile phone chargers, was recovered that contained 575 new notes of Rs 2,000. The remaining amount was in Rs 500 and Rs 100 notes.
"During questioning, Shambhu claimed that the bag was given to him by one Rinku in Allahabad. He was instructed to hand it over to a trader, Vijender, in Karol Bagh and was paid Rs 600 for the delivery," the officer said.
The I-T department was informed about the recovery of the notes and Shambhu was handed over to them, he added.
