The Special Judge M M Krishnan also imposed a fine of Rs two lakh on the Sub-Divisional Engineer P V Reddy, an official release stated here.
The Anti Corruption Branch of CBI, Chennai, registered a case against Reddy, Sub Divisional Engineer, Southern Railway, Tiruchirapalli in 2008 based on a complaint that he had abused official position and demanded a bribe of Rs one lakh from a person to show certain official favours.
During the trap laid by CBI, Reddy was caught red handed while accepting the bribe and a search on his residence yielded Rs two lakh unaccounted cash, the release said.
The court has further ordered confiscation of Rs two lakh that was seized from his residence, which was proven as ill-gotten money.
