Rain subsided Friday after crippling life for three days in parts of Odisha even as the Met department warned of more showers in the next 24 hours.
Torrential downpour was likely in parts of Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Nuapada, Kalahandi and Koraput on Saturday, while sporadic rain could be expected across the state till Sunday, an official at Met Centre here said.
The districts of Sundargarh, Kendrapara, Jajpur and Jagatsinghpur faced severe water-logging issues as rain pounded parts of the state in the past three days, he said.
"Several areas in Bhadrak district were marooned as the water level n Baitarani river rose above the danger mark of 17.83 metre at Akhuapada. The administration geared up to meet any eventuality and maintained a close watch," the official said.
In Sundargarh district, rain water inundated areas in Sundargarh town and Kutra area.
The average rainfall recorded in the state over the past 24 hours was 47.1 mm, the office of Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) office said in a statement.
With this, the cumulative average rainfall of the state from June 1 to date came to a surplus of 19.6 per cent over the long-term average rainfall.
Fifteen districts have received surplus rainfall of more than 19 per cent while 15 districts have received normal rainfall during the period.
