During Zero Hour in the Assembly, an Independent MLA Randheer Singh Bhinder raised the issue, saying the states of Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana have withdrawn the limit of two kids to contain girl foeticide.
If other states could go ahead with new provisions why not Rajasthan could do it, Bhinder asked.
Other ruling BJP members, including Phool Chand Bhinda, Srichand Kripalani also raised their voice in support of more kids in the family.
Replying to a sensitive debate, Minister in-charge, Home, G C Kataria said, "Law is meant and aimed for population control and it was mandatory for every one including elected representatives. If this law is imposed on MP, MLAs, I will follow it and would not contest the election."
"However, many of them could have a second thought and fellow colleagues would be consulted," he said.
While a veteran Congress MLA Pradhyuman Singh rejected the ruling MLAs demand saying there was no need to change this clause in the law.
