To provide free medical diagnostic services in rural areas, Rajasthan government today started a "mobile portable-lab" in ten districts of the state.
These labs would travel in the districts and provide free 37 clinical diagnostics to patients which otherwise costs Rs 3000 to Rs 5000, an official spokesperson, quoting Rajasthan Medical and Health Minister R S Rathore, said.
This service would start in Jhalawar, Churu, Kota, Baran, Sawai Madhopur, Udaipur, Bundi, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand, and Pratapgarh districts, he said.
The initiative of the Medical and Health department of the state government is supported by Wish Foundation which will provide a five-day training course related to diagnostic services to five Auxiliary Nurses (ANM) and five male nurses, he said.
In another development, the state medical and health department today signed an MoU with International Network for Cancer Treatment and Research (INCTR), the spokesperson said.
Under this agreement, para-medical staff like ANM and Asha Sahyogni in Community Health Centres (CHC) would receive training from INCTR to guide cancer patients, he said.
The MoU was signed in presence of Rathore and INCTR's expert Dr Shivraj Singh, he said.
"Cancer could be prevented if diagnosed at the early stage, and the para-medical staff when trained at CHC would be enable to guide cancer patients in villages," the Minister said.
