Ahead of the Haryana Assembly elections slated later this year, BJP President Rajnath Singh today held a meeting of its state unit and asked partymen to prepare for the polls and start the party's campaign with immediate effect.
The BJP chief also heard the views of its leaders from the state on the continuation of its alliance with Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) which failed to win any seat in the just-concluded Lok Sabha polls.
Sources said while the party decided to continue with its present alliance with HJC, a final call will be taken by the party's Parliamentary Board sometime soon.
"The alliance with HJC was also discussed and the party president heard the views of all leaders from the state. The leaders apprised the party president of the situation arising out of the Lok sabha polls and the party's top leadership is seized of the situation.
"Any call to review the alliance will be taken by BJP's national Parliamentary Board. The allince with HJC, however, continues," BJP's Haryana unit incharge Jagdish Mukhi told PTI.
The party also decided to start holding booth-level meetings of its workers with immediate effect as also workers meetings in all the 90 Assembly constituencies where central ministers will also be present.
Mukhi said the party will also reach out to voters to get themselves registered and the party chief asked partymen to prepare themselves for the polls ahead and ensure that BJP comes to power in the state.
The meeting was attended by all seven party MPs from the state, including two Union Ministers Kishan Pal Gujjar and Rao Inderjit Singh, besides party's state unit president Ram Bilas Sharma and other top leaders.
