Senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi today slammed Bihar Health minister Ramdhani Singh for challenging his wife Jesse George Modi's academic qualification, asking him to apologise within seven days or else face defamation charges.
"Singh has needlessly challenged my wife's degree that she has attained from prestigious universities in Patna and Mumbai as fake....I demand that he apologize publicly within seven days or she (Jesse George Modi) will file a defamation case against him," he said in a statement.
Denouncing Singh's allegations, Sushil said his wife had taught at a central school for eight years before joining the Patna University and has been serving at a premier college.
Jesse George Modi has obtained M.Sc, M.Ed and Ph.D degrees from the Patna University, the BJP leader said adding, she was ready to face any probe or action if her degrees are found to be fake.
Stating that his wife was appointed as a teacher in the Patna University in 2003 during the RJD rule, Modi asked as to why the governments headed by Rabri Devi and Nitish Kumar did not take action against her if she had fake degrees.
Singh has lost his mind and got rattled after his daughter Anita Singh had to quit as librarian at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), Patna two days ago after it had come to light that she had obtained the job in an illegal manner without meeting the required academic qualification and age criteria, Sushil claimed.
Singh had yesterday challenged the academic qualification of the former deputy chief minister's wife.
