Ramsiej wins Living Roots Eco-challenge

Jomsingstar Ramsiej beat last year's winner Emphius Nongrum to come first in the 2nd edition of the Living Roots Eco-challenge, one of the toughest 10K races in the country, here today.
Starting from Wahlyngkhat on Shillong-Dawki road, the route of the race takes the over 100 contenders to Nongblai village by descending over 1700 feet and passing through 10 root-bridges.
Ramsiej took one hour and 14 minutes to see all the 10 root-bridges and return to the finishing point.
Nongrum (1 hr 17 min) and Kynpham Swer (1 hr 21 min) clinched the second and third position in the men's section.

In the women's category, Pynhun Shulet took 1 hr 55 min to complete the trek followed by Dakahi Kyndait who was just one minute behind the winner. Kenyum Jini bagged the third prize clocking 3 hrs 45 minutes.
Nongblai village in East Khasi Hills district boasts of having the highest concentration of living bridges in one place in the world.
