Price's record label, Duck Down Music, confirmed the news in a statement, reported Entertainment Weekly.
"It is with beyond a heavy heart that Duck Down Music is sadly confirming that Sean Price passed away early this morning in his Brooklyn apartment, Saturday, August 8th, 2015," the label said in a statement.
"The cause of death is currently unknown, but it was reported that he died in his sleep. He's survived by his wife, and his three children.
"Sean's family and friends are asking for time to grieve and process the news," the statement continued.
He performed on their first LPs, "Nocturnal" and "For the People", respectively.
Ruck later re-branded himself under his birth name, Sean Price, to embark on a solo career.
Rapper Black Sour Ranger took to Twitter to share the news.
"My son just lost his God father and I just just lost a great friend and mentor I LOVE YOU BRO #TEAMHOMI4LIFE #DECEPTS4LIFE RIP SEAN Price,"
DJ Premier shared a picture of Price on Instagram and wrote, "RIP Ruck... Love and Respect to the Duck Down Family."
The Chain Gang also directed an animated music video to his song "STFU Part 2" based on his Mic Tyson cover.
