Rawat asks CM to provide basic facilities to all villages

Rawat, who had bitterly opposed Bahuguna for the post of Chief Minister, in a letter claimed that several villages like Tongia, Gonth and Khatte, which fall under the Rajaji national park in Haridwar district are being deprived of getting the status of revenue villages.

Basic amenties like electricity, road and water are not being given to these villages due to which the inhabitants there live in bad conditions, he said, adding that similar land ownership rights must be provided to all.

He asked the Chief Minister to give a serious thought on the plight of such villages, which fall under the Haridwar Lok Sabha constituency.

Rawat also raised the issue of the plight of the nomadic tribe of Van Gujjars claiming that their rehabilitation is not being carried out properly, which is matter of concern.

He asked the Chief Minister to relocate the Tongia village out of the park area in order to provide the status of revenue village.

Bahuguna had on July 20 begun the process of distributing papers related to land ownership rights to people in his Sitarganj constituency, which was part of election promises he made.
