Even though a Delhi Court today awarded life term to four convicts for the killing of L N Mishra, the kin of the then Railway Minister alleged the real culprits have gone scot-free.
L N Mishra's grandson Vaibhav, who was present in the court during pronouncement of the quantum of punishment, said the incident was part of a larger political conspiracy and the convicts were not involved in the killing of his grandfather.
"This is a high-level political conspiracy. The convicts -- Santoshanand, Sudevanand, Gopalji and advocate Ranjan Dwivedi-- were not involved in the killing of my grandfather.
"Since inception, we have been saying that others are involved. Many questions are still unanswered. We will go through the judgement and decide our stand accordingly," he said.
At the time of pronouncement of verdict, Ranjan Dwivedi's wife, sister, daughter and two-month-old grandson had come to the court to meet him.
Several Ananda Margis, clad in saffron attire, were also present in the jampacked courtroom.
One of the Anand Margis, Acharya Vimal Anand Avadhoot, said they were not satisfied with the verdict and will approach higher courts against the judgement.
"We will appeal against this judgement. Norms of jurisprudence have been violated. Even the post-mortem of the victim has not been conducted. Approvers' statement has not been cross-examined despite the Supreme Court orders," he said.
