"There have been reports from time to time regarding allegations that some institutions are engaging themselves in religious conversions," Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju said in a written reply to a question.
His reply came after BJP lawmaker Ranjanben Bhatt asked whether there were reports that certain NGOs are engaged in religious conversion in the country.
Rijiju said certain NGOs received foreign contributions for religious, educational, economic, social and cultural programme, and Foreign Contribution Regulation Act 2010 provides for registration of such associations for accepting foreign contributions.
