Rice basmati extends losses on increased supply

Rice basmati prices extended losses for the third-day and fell by Rs 300 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today on increased supplies from producing belts against low demand.
Bajra and maize also eased on reduced offtake by consuming industries.
Traders said increased supplies from producing regions in the face of sluggish demand mainly kept pressure on rice basmati prices.
In the national capital, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121
variety fell by Rs 300 each to Rs 7,000-9,000 and Rs 8,700-9,200 per quintal respectively.
Other bold grains like bajra and maize also receded to Rs 1,230-1,235 and Rs 1,210-1,215 from previous levels of Rs 1,240-1,245 and Rs 1,225-1,230 per quintal respectively.

Wheat MP (deshi) 2,245-2,445, Wheat dara (for mills) 1,610-1,615, Chakki atta (delivery) 1,615-1,620, Atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 220, Shakti bhog (10 kg) 220, Roller flour mill 850- 875 (50 kg), Maida 915-925 (50 kg) and Sooji 1,030-1,050 (50 kg).
Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,400, Shri Lal Mahal 10,000, Super Basmati Rice 9,500, Basmati common new 8,700-9,200, Rice Pusa- (1121) new 7,000-9,000, Permal raw 2,100-2,150, Permal wand 2,250-2,300, Sela 2,750-2,800 and Rice IR-8 1,925-1,975,Bajra 1,230-1,235, Jowar yellow 1,400-1,420, white 2,325-2,525, Maize 1,210-1,215, Barley 1,640-1,650.
