Rice basmati remains weak on subdued demand

Rice basmati remained weak for the second day and prices fell further by Rs 100 per quintal on the wholesale grains market today due to subdued demand against adequate stocks position.
However, barley rose on increased offtake by consuming industries.
Traders said subdued demand against adequate stocks position on increased arrivals mainly kept pressure on rice basmati prices.
In the national capital, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety declined by Rs 100 each to Rs 8,800-9,200 and Rs 7,600-9,200 per quintal respectively.
In the non-basmati section, rice permal raw, wand, sela and IR-8 followed suit and ended lower by Rs 50 each to Rs 2,150-2,200,Rs 2,200-2,300, Rs 2,750-2,850 and Rs 1,800-1,850 per quintal respectively.
On the other hand, barley found fresh buying support from consuming industries and moved up by Rs 20 to Rs 1,350-1,360 per quintal.
The following were today's quotations per quintal:
Wheat, MP (deshi) 2,130-2,330, Wheat dara (for mills) 1,535-1,540, Chakki atta (delivery) 1,540-1,545 Atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 220, Shakti bhog (10 kg) 220, Roller flour mill 830-850 (50 kg), Maida 840-850 (50 kg) and Sooji 900-925 (50kg).
Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,400, Shri Lal Mahal 10,000, Super Basmati Rice, 9,500, Basmati common new 8,800-9,200, Rice Pusa-(1121) new 7,600-9,200, Permal raw 2,150-2,200, Permal wand 2,200-2,300, Sela 2,750-2,850 and Rice IR-8- 1,800-1,850, Bajra 1,315-1,320, Jowar yellow 1,500-1,525, white 2,350-2,550, Maize 1,380-1,390, Barley 1,350-1,360, Rajasthan 1,080-1,090.
