Rising vehicle thefts in Etawah condemnable: SP leader

SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav today expressed concern over rising cases of vehicle thefts in the home district of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and called for taking stern action against erring policemen.
"The cases of auto lifting are on the rise... Such incidents in the home district of Chief Minister are condemnable," Yadav told reporters after dedicating to the people Ram Manohar Lohia environmental park here.
He said policmen knew about the people involved in such crime in their respective areas.
"The police chief of the district would have to pay attention to the rising theft cases and work without political pressure. If required, he can suspend police inspectors," the SP leader suggested.

The police is reponsible for the security of vehicles of those coming to the park, and being Chief Minister's home distict, their responsibility is all the more important, he stressed.
