decamped with Rs 17 lakh from a bank ATM in Sojati Gate area here.
The theft took place last night and when an employee of the bank went inside the ATM today to withdraw cash and found cash refill tray opened, said Gautam Jain, SHO, Udaimandir.
He said that there was no mark of breaking, cutting or any other tempering of the machine from anywhere.
"The theft was carried out so deftly that there was no apparent mark of breaking or cutting the machine or any part of it from anywhere.
"They just used the password to open the lock of the machine, took away the entire cash, which was reported to be Rs 17 lakh and left," said Jain.
"We will have to wait till Friday to get access to the visuals of the cameras as they were to obtained from Chennai office of the bank," Jain said.
