The PPCC chief welcomed more than 70 SAD-BJP leaders from Sultanpur Lodhi who joined the Congress in his presence here.
In a short span of six months, the Congress government led by Chief Minister Amarinder Singh took a number of path breaking initiatives, he said.
The PPCC chief exhumed confidence that the well thought out plans would certainly reap desired result, ultimately bringing back the lost glory and prosperity of Punjab.
The CM has started initiatives to revive industry to generate job avenues in Punjab, he said.
As all sections of the society had rejected SAD-BJP combine out-rightly, it had to face the worst ever defeat during the recently concluded Assembly polls, he said.
"During its 10 years misrule, no development activity had taken place, hence they tried to played the emotive issue of the Satluj-Yamuna Link but the people of the Punjab had shown maturity by teaching SAD-BJP a lesson for its misdeeds", said Jakhar.
The SAD could not digest the settlement of the SYL issue, hence it had desperately been trying its old "gimmicks" to get political mileage.
During the past decade, the SAD-BJP combine, instead of serving the people, has just pursued its own "vested interests". The electorates would also reject the SAD-BJP combine during the Gurdaspur Parliamentary bye election, he claimed.
