A special CBI court will hear arguments for further probe into the 2003 Sadiq Jamal encounter killing case from tomorrow in connection with a plea filed by the deceased's brother Shabbir.
Special CBI Court Judge M M Gandhi informed the applicant's advocate Shamshad Pathan today that the hearing will be conducted from tomorrow.
Shabbir had filed an application before the Special CBI Court in 2013 seeking further probe into the role of former Joint Director of Intelligence Bureau Rajendra Kumar and other state functionaries.
Shabbir alleged in his plea that Sadiq was killed as a part of a political conspiracy.
Demanding a probe into Kumar's role, Shabbir's plea said that that the Intelligence Bureau officer had given inputs that Sadiq was a terrorist on a mission to kill the then Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Pravin Togadia.
On January 13, 2003, a youth from Bhavnagar called Sadiq Jamal was gunned down by a city crime branch team in the Naroda area here based on Intelligence Bureau inputs that he was a terrorist.
Earlier, Shabbir had also filed a plea before the High Court in 2011 seeking a fair probe into the case after which the Gujarat High Court had handed over the probe to Central Bureau of Investigation.
On December 21, 2012, CBI had filed a charge sheet in the case and named eight Gujarat policemen for murder as well as criminal conspiracy.
