Sand art demands Sharmila's release

Seeking freedom for Manipur social activist Irom Sharmila Chanu, a sand art in the sea beach of Puri appealed for her immediate release.
Renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik created a sand sculpture of Irom Sharmila with a message "Free the Iron Lady from the Iron grill" at Puri beach of Odisha here today.
"I appeal through my art to release Irom Sharmila," said Pattnaik.
He has created a 5ft high sand sculpture by showing the face of Sharmila with Iron grills and used about 4 tons of sand in it.
Sharmila was set free by a Manipur court on Wednesday after 14 years, but he was put behind the bars again yesterday.

Sharmila is demanding withdrawal of Armed Forces Special Powers (Assam and Manipur) Act 1958.
