Work on the trolley project is nearing completion and the service will be thrown open to public within two months, an official of the company, which has been entrusted with the task, said.
The trolleys are being installed by Suyog Gurbaxani Funicular Ropeways Pvt Ltd at an estimated cost of Rs 85 crore.
"Once this service starts, devotees will not have to climb over 500 steep steps and they will be able to reach the shrine from the foot hills within three minutes," Rajeev Lumba, project manager said.
Saptashrungi goddess temple is located in Nanduri, Kalwan taluka, a small village near Nashik.
"Lakhs of pilgrims visit the famous temple during the Navratri festival. Therefore, the Maharashtra government and Shri Saptshrungi Devi Nivasini Trust had decided to undertake this project," Lumba said.
