School principal held for graft

A government school principal was today arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1,000 from a woman teacher, Lokayukta police said.
Prakash Pallai, principal of Government Higher Secondary School, Dodwa in Khargone district had demanded Rs 1,000 from the complainant, a contractual teacher in the school for clearing her one month's salary which was not being paid to her, Lokayukta SP Arun Mishra said.
The complainant later approached Lokayukta police which laid a trap and arrested the principal while he was accepting the bribe, Mishra said.
A case under Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against the accused, he said adding further investigations are underway.
