It also grew at a rate of 13.9 per cent as against the world average of 4.1 per cent during 2009-13.
"India ranks sixth in the world with respect to scientific publications, growing at a rate of 13.9 per cent as against the world average growth rate of 4.1 per cent during 2009-13. The country's share of world Science and Technology (S&T) research output has grown from 3.1 per cent in 2009 to 4.4 per cent in year 2013," Minister of State for Science and Technology Y S Chowdhary said in a written reply.
"India produced 1,06,065 research papers in the year 2013 as compared to 62,955 in 2009. India produced more research papers than countries like Italy, Canada, Spain, Australia, Korea, Brazil, Sweden and Singapore in the year 2013. India's overall citation impact has become 0.75 during 2009-13 from 0.68 during 2006-10 (World average citation impact is 1.0)," he said.
