Light rains in UP, Etawah hottest at 43.4 degrees

Light to moderate rains brought down temperatures in some parts of Uttar Pradesh, bringing some respite from the searing heat.
However, Etawah continued to reel under severe heatwave conditions and recorded the maximum temperature in the state at 43.4 degrees Celsius.
Light to moderate rains and thundershowers occurred at isolated areas. Heavy rains and thundershower also occurred at isolated places in western UP.
Baheri recorded 6 mm of rains, followed by Bareilly with 5 cm, Mohammdi 2 cm, and Damodarganj, Rampur and Shahjahanpur at 1 cm each.
Day temperatures fell in Gorakhpur, Faizabad and Varanasi divisions but rose in Agra division and were unchangeed in other places.

Temperatures were below normal in Gorakhpur, Faizabad Varanasi, Kanpur and Lucknow divisions and normal in other divisions of the state.
The MET department has forecast rains and thundershowers at isolated places.
