Stating that India has a massive plan for internationally benchmarked skill development, SCOPE Director General U D Choubey has sought support from International Labour Organisation (ILO) and developed nations to help India realise its skill development goals.
Addressing the Plenary Session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva, Choubey also emphasised that the policy of protectionism followed in developed countries needs to be reviewed to encourage labour migration from developing countries. He stressed on the need to develop global partnership to realise the Millennium Development Goals.
Choubey drew the attention of the international community to the crucial issues of skill development and workers migration to combat global unemployment. He asked ILO to channelise highest resources on skill development across countries.
Multilateral agreements need to be entered into for creating skill corridors to migrate skilled people across counties, Choubey emphasised.
