Seminar on communal harmony held in the capital

Seeking to send out a message of brotherhood and harmony, a seminar was held in the national capital on the eve of the UN Minorities Rights Day.
Speaking on the occasion Delhi Social Welfare Minister Sandeep Kumar said, "religion teaches us brotherhood and we should respect all the religions. India is like a bouquet of flowers and the force driving this country is the same despite it having different names in different religions."
The minister appreciating the Delhi Minorities Commission for holding the seminar on a relevant contemporary topic ('inter-faith and communal harmony') added that the government will try to hold such programmes in all the eleven districts of Delhi from next year.

"This type of programme will be held in each of 11 districts and the concerned DCs will be instructed to hold it."
Delhi Chief Secretary K K Sharma participating in the seminar cited Dalai Lama in bringing out the harmonious relations between different faiths.
He also assured about support of the Delhi government in its programmes and activities.

Former Union Minister Arif Mohammad Khan, one of the speakers at the seminar, traced the history of communalism in India to the period following the revolt of 1857.
Lashing out against such politicians of the country who "create fear" among the people to "garner votes", Khan termed them as "parasites of secularism".

Chairman of Delhi Minorities Commission Qamar Ahmad, secretary K K Jindal, members H S Sarna and Abraham Pattiyani also spoke at the event.
