Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has regularized over 8,000 personnel working in various temples under the state-run Hindu Religious and Endowments department and sanctioned time-scale pay to them.
As a token, the Chief Minister handed over the orders to three of the 8,184 regularised personnel, a statement said today.
On August 12 last year, Jayalalithaa had told the state Assembly that 8,184 personnel worked for daily wages and on consolidated pay for temples under the department.
She had announced that their services would be regularised considering their family circumstances. They had been working for over five years in temples and had appealed that their services be regularised, she had said.
