Those injured have been identified as G Bhaskara Rao, (40), G Ganapathi (38), G Srinu (28), G Poleesu (40) years and three-year-old G Aparna, besides two others, who belong to the same family, sources said.
The blast occurred in the noon and those injured were initially sent to the Government Hospital at Rajam.
Collector P Laxminarasimham immediately rushed to the hospital and enquired about their condition which is said to be very critical, with more than 80 per cent burns, sources said.
Doctors said that out of the seven people injured, the condition of five, is very critical.
The injured family members were engaged in manufacturing fire crackers for festivals and marriages, sources said.
Similar blasts had occurred about three times in the same village.
About three months ago, a similar incident took place in Ponduru village in which two people had died.
