Buoyed by Delhi results, AAP aims to improve base in Haryana

Buoyed by its stunning victory in Delhi assembly elections, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is now aiming to strengthen its base in neighbouring Haryana, where it plans to take up critical issues confronting the masses.

AAP held a meeting here today to chalk out its future "action plan" in Haryana, where it unsuccessfully contested last year's Lok Sabha polls. The party had earlier decided against contesting the October assembly polls in the state.

Senior AAP leader Yogendra Yadav presided over the meet, which was also attended by leaders like Ashwant Gupta and Anupam Singh.

"After the Delhi poll results, more and more people want to associate with our party and support us. There is this new found energy and we want to tap this," Singh said.

"The meeting was more about the organisation and to tap the new found energy (after Delhi poll results). We also wanted to chalk out some action plan for organisation in Haryana, which faces critical issues like land acquisition, and urea and power shortage," he said.

The AAP leader hit out at the Manohar Lal Khattar-led BJP government for its alleged failure on various fronts.

"In just a short span of time, the government has gone on to become quite unpopular among the masses.

"Farmers have resented dilution of the Land Acquisition Act, people are facing power and urea shortage, BJP is taking support of the Deras to garner votes, the government failed to handle the rape and murder of a mentally challenged woman from Nepal and there are a number of other issues on which the government has failed," he alleged.
