BJP president Amit Shah will launch the party's mass contact programme 'Maha Sampark Abhiyan' here on May 8 and hold meetings with party workers during his three-day tour of Gujarat.
Shah landed at the city airport around 7.45 pm today, where he was greeted by Chief Minister Anandi Patel, several cabinet ministers, state BJP chief R C Faldu, party spokesman I K Jadeja and several other party leaders and MLAs.
Shah, who is the MLA from Naranpura in the city, will be in his constituency tomorrow and hold meetings with party workers, state BJP's media convener Harshad Patel said.
The BJP chief is scheduled to launch 'Maha Sampark Abhiyan' on Friday, where newly-registered BJP members will be personally contacted by the party cadres as part of their ongoing membership drive.
"On Friday, Shah will attend two events -- first is state executive meeting and another is 'Karyakarta Abhivadan' function, which is meant to express gratitude for all the party workers, who have worked hard during our membership drive in the state," Patel said.
Both these functions will be held at our head office in Gandhinagar, he added.
According to him, during the 'Karyakarta Abhivadan' event, Shah will announce the commencement of Maha Sampark Abhiyan in the state.
The party national president will be accompanied by Chief Minister, Gujarat BJP in-charge Dinesh Sharma, national joint secretary V Satish and many other office-bearers of state. During the event, those party workers, who have enrolled more than 1,000 new members, will be felicitated.
The state executive meet prior to that event will be chaired by Faldu in presence of Shah and other leaders, Patel said.
