According to police, the trio - sub-inspector Shiv Prasad Shukla and constables Rajpal Yadav and Ram Pyare Yadav - were found lax while on duty for a Muharram procession at Anfula village.
During the procession, two huts in the village were set on fire by miscreants, creating panic and tension in the area.
Soon after the incident was reported, Amethi District Magistrate Jagat Raj Tripathi and senior officials visited the village, police said, adding that a large posse of policemen were deployed in the area.
Police said further investigations are on into the matter.
