SI arrested for gunning down suspect

A sub-inspector of Police was today arrested in connection with the gunning down of a man in a police station in this district in October last year.
CB-CID Police arrested SI A Kalidass and charged him with murdering Syed Mohammed with ulterior motive, police said.
The case was transferred to the CB-CID on October 17 last year, three days after the incident. Besides, a Judicial magistrate inquiry was also ordered.
Syed Mohammed was brought to the police station in connection with an inquiry for allegedly attempting to stab a man. He was shot dead allegedly by the SI.
The CB-CID had earlier submitted that the SI's claim that he had shot the accused dead in self-defence during interrogation at the police station was not sustainable.

The SI was charged with firing three rounds at the chest of the accused, killing him on the spot.
