Silver seized from passenger in luxury bus going to Gujarat

The Thane district rural police seized a big stock of silver which was being transported in a luxury bus on its way to Gujarat late this evening, the police said.
The station house officer at the Talasari police station told PTI that a passenger travelling in the bus from Mumbai to Gujarat was intercepted at the Road Transport Office (RTO) checkpost at Dapchari and a search was carried out due to suspicion.
The search revealed that the passenger (whose name is yet to be revealed) carried the silver with him.
The police detained him and the valuation of the seized silver is still on, the police said.

Police inspector Sunil Gavkar of the Talasari police station, along with the other police officials are investigating the case.
According to a preliminary estimate, about 17 kg of silver valued at several crores of rupees was seized.
