The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) recently issued two resolutions directing its officers to stall various works -- installation of swings in parks and street lights -- through MLA Local Area Development (LAD) fund, he alleged.
In view of this, the Director of Local Bodies, under whom all the three MCDs come, have been asked not to implement South MCD's resolution at any cost, he said.
"This is totally a misuse of MCD by BJP and Congress. I have directed Director of Local Bodies not to implement these resolutions. Neither MCD is working nor they are letting our MLAs spend allocated funds for people's works," the Deputy Chief Minister alleged.
The AAP government's move comes a few months before the municipal polls. AAP has already said that it will raise the alleged corruption in MCDs during the poll campaign.
"It is the duty of MCD to maintain parks, construct roads and drains in their jurisdictions. Condition of parks have deteriorated. There are no benches in the parks. People approach MLAs and government with their complaints," he said.
"BJP councillors don't work and instead they roam with corrupt officers to earn money through wrong methods. When our MLAs want to work, MCD issues resolution to stop them from working," he alleged.
"What examples do MCDs want to set. If the Assembly passes resolution, saying that there will be no work through MP fund... How is it possible? Why don't they repair roads, install swings in parks for children," Sisodia asked.
The Deputy Chief Minister said according to the second resolution, "no NOC should be issued for installation/ replacement of street lights on the roads/streets under the jurisdiction of SDMC.
