Six naxals, including two women cadres, surrendered in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Dantewada and Kanker districts today, police said.
While five Maoists, including a woman, turned themselves in before police in Dantewada district, another woman rebel surrendered in Kanker district.
"The cadres in Dantewada, all deployed as 'Jan Militia' members, turned themselves in before police citing disappointment with the Maoist ideology and exploitation of lower rank cadres by senior leaders," Dantewada SP Kamlochan Kashyap told PTI.
They were identified as Mahadev Ram Madavi (40), Madavi Lakhma (33), Madavi Podiya (27), Madavi Ayatu (25) and Madavi Bheeme (23), the SP said, adding that the necessary assistance will be provided to them as per the state government policy.
The woman ultra who laid down arms in Kanker is identified as Subati Potai alias Kavita (23).
"She was associated with the outlawed movement since 2009 and was working as member of Panidobir Local Operation Squad (LOS)," Kanker SP RN Dash said.
In another incident, a police team arrested three Jan Militia members, identified as Madavi Ganga (20), Handa Ram Madavi (25) and Linga Madavi (28) in Dantewada who were allegedly involved in various criminal incidents, including attacks on security personnel, obstructing roads during naxal bandh and others, Kashyap said.
