Six PDP, 2 NC candidates file nominations for LC polls

As many as 15 candidates including six each from PDP and BJP today filed nomination papers for the elections to the 11 seats of the Legislative Council in Jammu and Kashmir.
Six candidates of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party filed their nomination papers before the Secretary Legislative Assembly (Returning Officer) Mohmmad Ramzan for the elections.
Accompanied by legislators and senior party functionaries, the six PDP candidates filed the nomination papers to the Upper House for which the notification was issued by the ECI, officials said.
In the fray from the PDP are, Surinder Choudhary and Firdous Tak for Jammu seats, Anayat Ali for reserved seat of Kargil and Javed Ahmed Mirchal, Saif-ud-Din Bhat and Yasir Reshi for Kashmir province seats.
The members were flanked by candidates including Yashpal Sharma, party's general secretary and MLC, and MLAs-elect Abdul Rehman Veeri, Syed Basharat Bukhari, Abdul Haq Khan, among others.
National Conference candidates, Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo and Qaiser Jamshed Lone also filed their nomination papers before the Returning Officer.
In the presence of the party's General Secretary Ali Mohammed Sagar, MLA and Provincial President National Conference Jammu, Devender Singh Rana proposed the name of Kichloo while former minister and MLA-elect Nazir Ahmed Khan Gurezi proposed Qaiser Jamshed's candidature.
Talking to reporters, Kichloo and Lone expressed their gratitude to the party leadership for reposing their faith in them and said that they will work as foot-solidiers of National Conference by carrying forward the policies and programmes of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah's mass movement.
