E-commerce spiritual portal Wheresmypandit.Com plans to expand its footprint in seven cities beyond Mumbai and Pune during the current festive season and aims to emerge as a key player in what it called Rs 40,000-crore puja and ritual market.
"Having established and gauged the interest for sourcing Pandits to conduct puja and other rituals in our first year of operations, we have now tied-up our back-end in cities like Delhi, Ahmedabad, Kolkatta, Bhopal, Indore, Bengaluru and Nagpur and will shortly extend our services in these new markets," founder of the portal Arun Poddar said in a statement here today.
In its first year of operations, the portal provided services of Pandit to conduct 500 pujas in and around Mumbai and will shortly be completing 1,000 pujas in the near-term with its trial runs in Pune.
"Market for conducting puja in India is estimated to be around Rs 40,000 crore based on per capita spend of Rs 2,000 by the Indian household populace, that is largely unorganised. Using the tools of e-commerce and putting in place a back-end framework to serve the demand, we are optimistic of holding a 5,000 pujas with the foray into above seven new cities," Poddar said.
The portal has tied up with institutions imparting spiritual training for Pandits across several states to empanel them to cater to the demand in different languages.
