Having notched up their second win with a 2-0 victory over Bharat FC, Sporting Clube de Goa will now look to keep the winning momentum going when they face Mohun Bagan in a crucial tie of the Hero I-League tomorrow at the Nehru Stadium, Fatorda.
With four matches left to play, Sporting Clube de Goa, who are lying at the bottom with 14 points from 16 matches, have no option but to win all their remaining matches to keep their hopes alive to avoid relegation.
A win is important for both the teams as Bagan who have 32 points -- the same as Bengaluru FC but have played one match less than the latter -- is fighting for the title, while Sporting is fighting to save relegation.
For Sporting a win will not only see them move above Dempo FC but will also raise their confidence to play their next two away matches against Shillong Lajong and Mohun Bagan before they play their last match against Pune FC at home.
Sporting have put up good performance in the league but lack of finishing cost them dearly which saw too many draws and it took them 14 matches to notch their first win.
Sporting's coach Mathew Costa is confident that his team will get positive result tomorrow.
"The break has helped the boys to shape up well. Although Anthony Wolfe will not be able to play tomorrow due to suspension, we have players good enough to take his place. We are in must win position and all the boys are eager to give their best and hopefully we come out victorious," he said.
Bagan, who are fighting for the title along with Bengaluru FC and Royal Wahingdoh, are feeling the pressure as they have dropped points in their last two matches after drawing against Mumbai FC and losing against Bharat FC.
Now they cannot afford to drop points further as it will jerpordise their chances to win the title.
