The incident occurred yesterday when the 22-year-old woman, a B.Com student, came out of a temple after offering prayers and the 21-year-old youth Shebin allegedly rammed his car into her, leaving her with multiple injuries, police said today.
Five others, who tried to help the woman, were also knocked down by the youth after he reversed his vehicle and hit them causing serious injuries to at least two of them here, they said.
Shebin, against whom police has registered a case of murder, abandoned his car and is absconding along with his parents, police said.
The incident has sent shock waves as it comes close on the heels of the ramming of a luxury car by a business tycoon on a security guard of a luxury apartment here causing the death of the guard.
