Stalin takes a dig at Jayalalithaa

DMK Treasurer M K Stalin today alleged AIADMK supremo and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa had announced her campaign itinerary and candidates list for Lok Sabha polls even before EC issued notification in order to avoid her appearance in a Bangalore special court which is trying disproportionate assets case against her.
"The urgency in announcing candidates and electioneeringschedule reveal that Jayalalithaa had planned to avoid appearing before the Court, where the disproportionate assets case is being heard," he alleged while speaking at a marriage function here.
On alliance prospects, Stalin hinted that the party may not align with actor-politician Vijayakant's DMDK or Congress,saying "the doors of the DMK (led front) have been closed," and the current combination including VCK, MMK and Puthiya Tamizhagam will face the polls.

While DMDK had remained non-committal so far despite DMK's feelers, DMK Chief M Karunanidhi had in December ruled out alliance with Congress, with which his party had parted ways in March 2013 over the Sri Lankan Tamils issue.
Meanwhile, criticising the Jayalalithaa-led government over the murder of a 24 year-old techie at Siruseri near here besides on other issues, Stalin commented on a microblogging site that there was "no peace, no progress, no prosperity."
The DMK leader's comments on the official page of his microblogging site were apparently aimed at Jayalalithaa's recent statement that her party's plank for the elections will be 'Peace, Progress and Prosperity.
