The Uttarakhand secretariat will be closed for a week beginning Friday with an advice to employees to work from home during the period to help contain the spread of novel coronavirus.
An order issued by Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi on Wednesday asked secretariat employees and officials to work from home from March 19 to March 24 during which the secretariat will remain closed.
They were asked not to come to office but be available on the phone so that their services could be utilised if urgently required.
They can even come to office to discharge their duties if it is very necessary.
This is in compliance with experts suggesting social distancing as an effective safeguard against the spread of the virus.
