Startup unveils 'smart electric scooter'

City-based startup Ather Energy today unveiled a smart electric scooter, S340, that will be available online by the end of this year.
In an industry first, Ather will build an online-only purchase model with doorstep delivery and service.
"With a manufacturing unit set up in Bengaluru, S340 will be a great showcase of a product truly made in India and will roll out by end of this year," the company's CEO and Co-Founder Tarun Mehta told PTI.
Ather also aims to set up an ambitious public charging infrastructure in every city it operates in, partnering with government and private enterprises, he said.

The startup has raised funding from Tiger Global and will raise more funds by the year end, Mehta said.
He added that it has raised nearly Rs 81 crore, out of which Rs 25 crore will be used for the production of S340.
