State government committed to resolve Naga issue: Rio

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has said the state government was committed to an honorable outcome to the vexed Naga issue even as the Union government handles it directly.
"The issue is now handled by the union government, and Naga underground groups and the state government cannot directly take part, but we are committed to see that an honourable solution comes about," Rio told the Assembly yesterday.
He said despite Nagaland being the second oldest state in the Northeast after Assam, it still did not have any national or regional institution worth the name.
He also said since the state was a resource crunch state, the government had proposed setting up of Nagaland Special Development Zones (NSDZs) along the foothill areas in consultation with the tribal HoHos and land owners for creating more employment opportunities.
