Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain today said strict action would be taken against those who have under-reported dengue cases from 2013-15 in the national capital.
The minister was reacting to a media report which stated that the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) found the national capital has been hugely under-reporting dengue cases and deaths.
The CAG report purportedly stated that in 2015, just 33 per cent of the 67,500 positive dengue cases reported by various hospitals were sent to the Centre.
The CAG had examined dengue cases from 2013 to 2015, saying that various hospitals had reported 409 dengue deaths in 2015, but the state's Death Review Committee, which comprises Delhi government doctors and municipal health officers, had only confirmed only 60-46 from the capital and 14 from other states.
"Strict action should be taken against those who have hidden facts (about dengue cases)," the Delhi Health Minister said here.
As per the purported CAG report, hospitals had reported 23,451 dengue cases in 2013 while 5,574 cases was intimated to the Central government.
Similarly in 2014, 4,596 cases were reported by hospitals while the Union government was intimated about 995 such cases. Besides, hospitals had purportedly reported 39,531 dengue cases while 15,867 cases were intimated to the Centre in 2015.
