Nitin Rai, a student of Lovely Professional University, hung himself to death in his home at Preet Nagar area here yesterday.
The cause of suicide was being ascertained, police said.
Meanwhile, two others also allegedly took their lives in two separate incidents in the nearby villages yesterday.
Parminder Kaur of a village Nangal Khera died after consuming some poisonous substance while a teenage girl Ramandip Kaur, hung herself to death in her home at village Sahni.
Police attributed the extreme step to domestic tension.
