"Music of the Spinning Wheel -- Mahatma Gandhi's Manifesto for the Internet Age", penned by BJP leader Sudheendra Kulkarni, seeks to put across views on how Gandhi and the Internet age have been a uniting force in the country and how they are made for each other.
"This book is a well research work loaded with interesting anecdotes and 523 interesting references," Kalam said, adding the author has convincingly tried to meet the past to create a future.
"It's a piece of an original work," said BJP leader L K Advani who felt the potential of Internet cannot be realised unless it is to spread to across the country.
Published by Amaryllis, the book also highlights the abiding relevance of Gandhi's probing approach to every aspect of life -- from economics to education, nature care to environment protection, from sex to women's empowerment and from politics to peacemaking.
The book has also sought to bust the stated belief that Gandhi was against science and industry, said the speakers which also included Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, former Union minister Arun Shourie and Editor of Indian Express Shekhar Gupta.
Shourie in particular noted Gandhi's admiration of great scientists like P C Roy and the scientists appreciation for the apostle of peace.
Kulkarni said the Internet fulfils the expectations of the ideal machine that Gandhi had been visualising.
"I wrote this book to help people rediscover the Mahatma. He remains the uniting force in the country and all parties need to understand Gandhi afresh," he said.
