Bandopadhyay, however, assured that his party would act as a responsible opposition in Parliament.
"Currently I am recovering from some medical complications for which I was hospitalised for more than 40 weeks. As per medical advice, I will be under home rest for three more weeks," he said in a letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker.
"Under such circumstances I won't be able to attend the all-party leaders meet on February 22. Our party will be represented by Kalyan Banerjee Chief whip of TMC in the Lok Sabha," he said.
Bandopadhyay also noted that he had called up Mahajan to inform about his illness and told her that her party would act as a responsible opposition in Parliament.
